Describes the ill-fated attempts at military collaboration between the American and French forces immediately before the siege of Newport, Rhode Island, 29 Aug., 1778. Includes dispostions of various regiments, including those under Nathaniel Greene, John Hancock, Henry Laurens, the marquis de Lafayette and others, all under the command of Major General John Sullivan, as well as commentary on the French fleet under the comte d'Estaing.
